Orthopaedics is the field of medicine that deals with the musculoskeletal system that includes bones , joints , muscles , tendons and ligaments. The doctors are called Orthopaedicians. They are also called Orthopaedic Surgeons because Orthopaedics by itself is a surgical field. The other names are Ortho Doctors , Orthopods , Ortho Surgeon , Bone and Joint Specialist and Bone Doctor among many things. This field is further divided into 1) Trauma which deals with fractures (broken bones) and dislocations. 2).Spine to handle problems of the neck and back. This can be pain , sprain , fractures , disc problems, deformities, displacement. 3) Sports Injury as the name suggests usually handles injuries of the ligaments, tendons that happen in sportsmen usually by Arthroscopy (keyhole surgery).
